Product Details

SKU Code: MKIIISS1224UNB/MY

This MKIII variant features the same dial pattern as a model MWC produced in 1979. All MKIII automatic models are recreations of the classic 1950s NATO specification watches, originally made under UK Ministry of Defence reference 6B/346 Mk XI. However, this particular model is a recreation of a MKIII variant we last sold in 1979. While it retains the vintage style of the 1950s watches, it incorporates modern technology for improved accuracy, using a contemporary 21-jewel, 21,600 bph automatic movement with up to a 40-hour power reserve and the option to be hand-wound if needed. Additionally, it features a shatter and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, ensuring exceptional durability.

Given budget constraints, modern military forces typically opt for more economical models that meet their needs. Historically, military forces worldwide purchased high-end brands like Rolex, IWC, Omega, and Longines, but those days are over. For those who still desire a military-pattern watch with a vintage look but higher specifications, we offer the MKIII models. We spared no expense in creating a superior product, from the high-performance movement to the brushed stainless steel case, hand-finished in Zurich. Recently, the model was upgraded with a scratch and shatter-resistant sapphire crystal with a non-reflective coating.

The watch features a screw-down caseback and crown, offering high accuracy and robustness, with a water resistance of up to 100m (330ft).

Benefits of Sapphire Crystal

Many ask about the benefits of sapphire crystal over standard mineral crystal. Synthetic sapphire is the superior material for watch crystals due to its strength and resistance to shattering and scratching, making it highly appealing to military personnel, police officers, and those with active outdoor lifestyles—groups that constitute over 70% of our customers. When accidents occur, over 90% of watches with cracked crystals have mineral glass, even when using hardened mineral crystals. Sapphire crystals, being heat-treated to remove internal stresses and then coated with two layers of anti-reflective coating, offer unmatched durability. This technology is now used in the latest iPhones. While sapphire crystal is more expensive, it is typically found only in higher-end watches due to its exceptional properties.
