Many of our customers need to track time in two separate time zones easily, without the need for additional hands or complications. Traditionally, a dedicated GMT watch was the solution, but there's now a simpler alternative. Most dive watches feature a "count-up" bezel for diving applications. However, demand has increased for a 12-hour bezel instead. Modern divers often use a dive computer, making the traditional bezel function less critical. This change enhances the watch's flexibility while maintaining the 300m/1000ft water resistance and classic diver watch appearance.
The 12-hour bezel design is incredibly simple to use. Unlike dedicated GMT watches, which have an additional hand, you offset the bezel by the required number of hours. For example, if you are in Paris and want to know the time in Miami (6 hours behind), turn the bezel until 9 o'clock aligns with the 3-hour marker. This adjustment allows you to track time across different zones effortlessly.
This watch is based on a 1960s military specification for diver's watches but includes several modern upgrades. While the original 1960s models were rated for 200m (660ft) water resistance, this watch boasts a 300m (1000ft) rating. It features a screw-down locking crown, screw caseback, Luminova for visibility in low light, and a sophisticated hybrid movement. This movement combines the classic sweep second hand of an automatic watch with the precision of a quartz movement. Additionally, the watch includes a hacking feature for synchronization or to stop the watch and conserve power if it won't be used for an extended period.
The MWC hybrid diver's watch effectively merges the best of both new and traditional watchmaking technologies. It features a hybrid ultra-low maintenance movement, where a battery powers the movement through coils and a quartz oscillator, while the hands are mechanically actuated and controlled. Essentially, the movement is mechanical, powered by a battery and regulated by a crystal, eliminating the need for a spring.
