Product Details

SKU Code: XADV1/BLET

This particular watch is inspired by the exploration and adventurer watches of the 1950s and 1960s. It features a box sapphire crystal that closely resembles the original plexiglass crystal. The movement is a Ronda R 150 or equivalent, a sophisticated 25-jewel automatic movement with an impressive frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz). This precision-crafted powerhouse boasts a substantial 38-hour power reserve, ensuring enduring performance. Equipped with hacking and hand-winding capabilities, it exemplifies both efficiency and convenience.

While the watch uses Luminova instead of the Tritium used in the 1960s, Luminova has the advantage of not deteriorating with age and being non-radioactive. The paint color on this variant mimics the appearance of aged Tritium paint.

The watch measures 39mm in diameter and is fitted with a matching steel bracelet designed to look like the type used in the 1960s.

Why Choose Sapphire Crystal?

A common question we get is about the benefits of sapphire crystal over the original plexiglass. Synthetic sapphire is considered the best material for watch crystals because it is incredibly strong, shatter-resistant, and scratch-resistant. These characteristics make it very appealing to military and security personnel, police officers, and people who lead active outdoor lifestyles, which account for over 70% of our customers.

In contrast, the original plexiglass crystals used in the 1960s, made of plastic/acrylic, were easily scratched and cracked, which also limited the water resistance of the watch. When clients have accidents resulting in a cracked crystal, over 90% are usually watches with mineral glass crystals or plexiglass. Even hardened mineral crystals do not come close to sapphire for durability under adverse conditions.

Sapphire crystals are strong because they are heat-treated to remove internal stresses, which can cause weakness. After manufacturing, the crystals are coated with two layers of anti-reflective coating. Interestingly, sapphire crystal is now used on the latest iPhones. While sapphire crystal comes at a higher cost, it is typically only fitted to higher-end watches.
