This watch is inspired by the exploration and adventurer models from the 1950s and 1960s. It features a box sapphire crystal that closely resembles the original plexiglass. The movement is a Ronda R 150 or equivalent, a sophisticated 25-jewel automatic movement with a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz). This precision-crafted powerhouse boasts a substantial 38-hour power reserve, ensuring enduring performance. Equipped with hacking and hand-winding capabilities, it exemplifies both efficiency and convenience.

While this watch uses Luminova instead of the Tritium from the 1960s, Luminova does not deteriorate with age and is non-radioactive. This variant's paint color mimics the appearance of aged Tritium paint.

The watch measures 39mm in diameter and is fitted with a matching steel bracelet designed to resemble those used in the 1960s. It also pairs well with various NATO straps, as demonstrated in photos sent by a serving air force officer who owns one of these watches.

Why Choose Sapphire Crystal?

Many customers ask about the benefits of sapphire crystal over the original plexiglass. Synthetic sapphire is the best material for watch crystals due to its strength and resistance to shattering and scratching. These characteristics make it highly appealing to military and security personnel, police officers, and people who lead active outdoor lifestyles—groups that account for over 70% of our customers.

In contrast, the original plexiglass crystals used in the 1960s were made of plastic/acrylic and were easily scratched and cracked, which also limited the watch's water resistance. When clients have accidents resulting in a cracked crystal, over 90% are usually watches with mineral glass crystals or plexiglass. Even though we use hardened mineral crystals in many watches, they still do not match the durability of sapphire under adverse conditions.

Sapphire crystals are strong because they are heat-treated to remove internal stresses, which can cause weakness. After manufacturing, two layers of anti-reflective coating are applied. Interestingly, sapphire crystal is now used on the latest iPhones. While sapphire crystal comes at a higher cost, it is typically only fitted to higher-end watches.
