SKU Code: G101224PVD/2

This model with a U.S. pattern 12/24 hour dial format is a direct descendant of the G10 watches we made back in the 1980s. It retains the popular battery hatch, a feature that has been discarded by most other manufacturers. The battery hatch was originally used because early quartz watch batteries lasted only around a year. Today, with the battery on this watch lasting around five years, the hatch is more of a design detail, though it remains popular for historical reasons.

The watch also benefits from Luminova for improved nighttime visibility. Luminova functions like a light battery: after sufficient activation by sunlight or artificial light, it glows in the dark until the luminosity gradually fades. Larger markings are often visible throughout the night. This activation and emission process is repeatable indefinitely, and Luminova does not suffer from aging. Additionally, Luminova pigments are completely free of radioactivity.

The special covert matte black, non-reflective PVD finish is often specified in military contracts for special forces units, anti-terrorist units, and various covert operations. In the PVD process, the steel is not black all the way through. Instead, the color is created by a special chemical PVD plating process, which is vastly superior to the painted finish used on some lower-quality watches that can easily fade or rub off. The PVD process alters the color of the steel at a molecular level, ensuring it does not deteriorate even during heavy usage, although it can be damaged if the case is gouged by a piece of metal or worn down by heavy abrasion against rocks or similar surfaces.

Our G10 is one of our most tried and tested models, with earlier variants in service for over 40 years. A large number of military personnel have evaluated this model and its predecessors over lengthy periods in a variety of deployments, and the feedback has always been very favorable. If you are looking for a solid black stainless steel military watch, this would be an ideal choice. Factors that greatly contribute to this watch's durability include the screw-down locking crown, which offers superior protection compared to more vulnerable push-in crowns, and the sapphire crystal, which is both shatter and scratch resistant.

The back of the case bears various contract markings, and the watch is supplied with a black 20mm NATO webbing strap.

Many customers ask about the benefits of sapphire crystal over standard mineral crystal. Synthetic sapphire is the best material for watch crystals due to its strength and resistance to shattering and scratching. These characteristics make it highly desirable for military and security personnel, police officers, and outdoor enthusiasts, who make up over 70% of our customers. Accidents that result in cracked crystals typically involve watches with mineral glass. Even our hardened mineral crystals cannot match the durability of sapphire under adverse conditions. Sapphire crystals are strengthened by heat treatment to remove internal stresses, followed by the application of two layers of anti-reflective coating. This durability is why sapphire crystal is also used in the latest iPhones. However, sapphire crystal's superior quality comes at a higher price, which is why it is usually found in higher-end watches.
