MWC first produced the predecessor to this 300m/1000ft water-resistant diver's watch between the early 1990s and 2004. This model is based on a 2005 version, the first to use Tritium Gas Tubes (GTLS), offering excellent nighttime readability. The self-luminous tubes ensure consistent brightness from dusk till dawn, with the hands and hour markers glowing via Tritium, which contains less than the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s limit for personal exposure.
These military watches are among the easiest to read in low light, with Tritium tubes providing up to 100 times the brightness of traditional luminous paint. They require no battery or charging and have a life expectancy of at least 12 years before gradually fading.
Although the predecessor was discontinued in 2007, an MWC distributor in Australia rediscovered 500 Luminova versions of this model, made between 1999 and 2001, during a stock check. These watches were refurbished and sold, proving so popular that MWC decided to reintroduce the design. Upgrades include an automatic movement with a 60-hour power reserve, hand-winding, hacking features, and a durable sapphire crystal. The bezel was also improved from 60-90 clicks to 120 clicks.
This model, closely based on MWC’s 2005 GTLS diver's watch, also benefits from the improved performance of modern Swiss Tritium GTLS tubes. The case design, originally created by Swiss case-maker MRP S.A., has remained largely unchanged since the 1970s. MRP’s case designs have been used by various brands, including Precista, Nilax, Heuer, and Chronosport.
The watch adheres to the British Ministry of Defence (MOD) specifications and is compatible with a variety of 20mm NATO strap variants.

Why Choose Sapphire Crystal?
Sapphire crystal is the strongest, most scratch- and shatter-resistant material used in watch crystals. Its durability makes it ideal for military, security, and active outdoor professionals. Even hardened mineral crystals cannot compare to the superior strength of sapphire, which is heat-treated to enhance durability and coated with anti-reflective layers. Though sapphire crystal comes at a higher cost, it is typically found on high-end watches due to its unmatched quality.
