The MWC "Naval Crew" range of Military Divers models represents one of MWC's latest heavy-duty series, available in two versions: covert non-reflective PVD steel and standard stainless steel. These watches are specifically designed for demanding environments, using red T100 tritium GTLS tubes to preserve night vision on a ship's bridge or in a submarine. Submarines are typically 'rigged for red' to allow periscope use at night, dusk, and dawn without interference from bright lights in the control room. This red lighting helps operators avoid the adjustment period to night conditions, crucial when a submarine is most vulnerable at periscope depth. These watches were specifically ordered by submarine crews for this purpose.
Both models are built to be exceptionally robust, featuring shatter and scratch-resistant sapphire crystals for enhanced durability. They are versatile, suitable for onboard use and deep diving with mixed gases. With a water resistance rating of 500m (1,640ft), a wide 24mm strap, and a non-scratch ceramic bezel designed for easy grip in cold and icy conditions, these watches are perfect for challenging environments.
Key Features:
- Movement: High-quality Ronda GMT 515.24H with a hacking function for synchronization. The GMT feature adds a second independently adjustable hour hand that travels around the dial in 24 hours, eliminating confusion between a.m. and p.m. and making it easy to read dual time zones.
- Helium Escape Valve: All MWC 500m models are equipped with a helium escape valve, essential for saturation divers. Helium molecules can penetrate the seals under high pressure, and the valve allows them to escape during decompression, preventing damage to the watch.
- Durability: The case is made from 316L PVD stainless steel with a covert matte black non-reflective finish, specified in military contracts for special forces units, anti-terrorist units, and various covert operations. The PVD process chemically alters the steel at a molecular level, making it significantly more durable than lower-quality painted finishes.

Benefits of Sapphire Crystal:
Synthetic sapphire is the best material for watch crystals due to its exceptional strength and resistance to shattering and scratching. These characteristics make it highly appealing to military and security personnel, police officers, and those with active outdoor lifestyles, accounting for over 70% of our customers. In accidents resulting in a cracked crystal, over 90% involve watches with mineral glass crystals. Even hardened mineral crystals do not match the durability of sapphire. Heat-treated to remove internal stresses, sapphire crystals are then coated with two layers of anti-reflective coating, making them even stronger. Although more expensive, sapphire crystal is typically found on higher-end watches and is also used in the latest iPhones.
These attributes make the MWC "Naval Crew" range an excellent choice for those seeking a robust, reliable, and stylish timepiece suitable for both professional diving and demanding everyday use.
