MWC "Depthmaster" 100ATM Military Diver Watch
Introducing the MWC "Depthmaster" 100ATM Military Diver Watch, one of our latest and most robust models. This 100% Swiss-made diver's watch is designed to endure extreme conditions, featuring a sapphire crystal and a 100ATM (1,000 meters / 3,280 feet) water resistance rating. It is suitable for diving with mixed gases at extreme depths and includes a wider 24mm strap and a non-scratch ceramic bezel, making it easier to grip in extreme cold. These watches are specifically crafted for professional divers facing very challenging conditions.
Helium Escape Valve
All MWC 100ATM models come equipped with a helium escape valve. This feature addresses the issue of helium molecules entering the watch. Helium molecules are extremely small, allowing them to penetrate the watch seals even when other gases and water cannot. This can occur in saturation diving, where divers spend extended periods at great depths under high pressure.
Helium buildup inside the watch can create internal pressure, potentially causing serious damage or even blowing out the crystal or crown when unscrewed. This is particularly dangerous during time checks or resets. The helium escape valve automatically releases these molecules during decompression, ensuring the watch returns to normal sea level pressure without letting any external elements in.
Importance of Helium in Deep Diving
Helium is crucial for deep-sea diving because it does not cause nitrogen narcosis, unlike nitrogen. Helium replaces nitrogen in most deep-sea mixed gas diving applications. Professional divers working at great depths for extended periods often live in dry environments pressurized with an oxygen/helium mix. Upon surfacing and decompressing, this gas must be safely removed to avoid potentially hazardous situations like the crystal or crown being blown out, which could cause injury.

Benefits of Sapphire Crystal
Synthetic sapphire is the best material for watch crystals due to its exceptional strength and resistance to shattering and scratching. These properties make it highly appealing to military and security personnel, police officers, and individuals with active outdoor lifestyles, accounting for over 70% of our customers. In comparison, over 90% of cracked crystal incidents involve watches with mineral glass crystals. Even hardened mineral crystals cannot match the durability of sapphire under adverse conditions.
Sapphire crystals are heat-treated to remove internal stresses, enhancing their strength. They are made with two layers of anti-reflective coating. Interestingly, sapphire crystal is now also used in the latest iPhone models. While sapphire crystal is more expensive, it is typically found in higher-end watches due to its superior qualities.
